Saturday, August 21st, 2010
You have taken the needed beginner’s lessons in scuba diving. You have passed the theoretical study, the confined water training and the open water dives stages of the first scuba diving course. Now, you are ready to take more scuba diving adventures in the many dive spots in the world. Of course, it is important that you first understand some of the basic scuba dive gear and equipment.
The two kinds of scuba dive wear are the wetsuits and dry suits. The wetsuit can come in shorty form or a full length form. The wetsuit is sufficient for warm water scuba diving or snorkeling since you will get a level of insulation from it. However, in extremely cold water, then having a dry suit is essential.
A dry suit is another scuba dive wear that is primarily used for cold water diving. If the water temperature goes below 60F, then using dry suits become necessary. This is especially important for scuba divers who plan to stay longer under the water. A dry suit is water proof so your body skin will not come in contact with cold water, thus, giving you the ability to stay warm for longer periods of time. Some of the best brands to consider when shopping for dry suits are Cressi, Mares and Oceanic.
